The Technique

Rooted in the art of Kirigami, MONADE transforms flat surfaces into striking three-dimensional forms through intricate folds. This patented technique is at the heart of our innovation—an alternative “leather” made from interlocking tiles.

MONADE handbags embody a sustainable, modular design philosophy that enables easy disassembly for repair, recycling, and customization. Each bag is composed of three key components:

  • Outer Shell: Crafted from foldable origami cells made of 100% natural fibres.
  • Inner Lining: Composed of overlapping sheet layers that provide protection and ensure breathability.
  • Joining Mechanism: The outer shell and inner lining are fastened using a galvanized steel wire rope. Additional components are made from galvanized metal, ensuring durability and facilitating disassembly.

    Sustainability and Customization

The thoughtful application of the Design for Disassembly (DfD) approach supports:

    Sustainability
Modular components make it easy to replace or recycle individual parts, reducing waste and extending the product’s lifecycle.

    Customization
The adaptable design allows parts to be reconfigured, enabling users to personalize their handbags to reflect evolving tastes and functional needs.

By embracing DfD principles, MONADE sets a new standard in luxury fashion where aesthetics, functionality, and environmental responsibility come together seamlessly.
